Chances are, if you’ve ever been an active Facebook user, you’ve had problems logging into your profile. But why is this? With the increase in spam and hacker attempts and the introduction of AI security protocols, it’s common to be signed out of your account or for a password reset to be prompted. And sometimes, it just isn’t working the way that it should be. If you’re encountering login issues, fret not! Here are some steps you can take to regain access to your account.

1. Make sure your username and password are up-to-date.

Before you go through any of the following steps, make sure the username and password you’re using to enter your account are accurate and up-to-date. Since we have to reset passwords so often, it’s not uncommon to accidentally enter an old password or old email out of muscle memory. Check your records and passkey accounts to be sure you have the right info.

2. Use the Find My Account page.

  • First, go to the Find Your Account page at facebook.com/login/identify and follow the instructions. Make sure to use a computer or mobile phone that you have previously used to log into your Facebook account.
  • Search for the account you want to recover. You can search for your account by name, email address, or phone number.
  • Follow the on-screen steps to reset the password for your account.
  • You can learn more about what to do if you’re having trouble finding your account using the Find Your Account page.

3. Recover your Facebook account from a friend’s or family member’s account.

  • From a computer, go to the profile of the account you’d like to recover.
  • Click more below the cover photo.
  • Select Find support or report profile.
  • Choose Something Else, then click Next.
  • Click Recover this account and follow the steps.

Encountering login issues on Facebook can be frustrating, but with patience and persistence, you can regain access to your account. By following the steps outlined above and leveraging the resources available through Facebook’s support channels, you’ll be back to connecting and sharing with friends or running your business page in no time. Remember, your online security is paramount, especially if you manage a business profile. So always stay vigilant and take proactive measures to protect your account.
